Het afvallen van Thulani Serero voor de Afrika Cup-selectie van Zuid-Afrika wordt niet begrepen door de fans van Bafana Bafana. Op de goed bezochte website KickOff.com spuwen veel bezoekers hun gal over de beslissing van bondscoach Shakes Mashaba om Serero thuis te laten.
Veel fans zien een chronisch probleem bij Mashaba, die het niet zo zou hebben op spelers die in Europa spelen. Het niet meenemen van Serero zorgt ook bij velen voor een depressieve houding wat betreft de kansen van Zuid-Afrika bij de Afrika Cup. Hieronder enkele reacties op het forum:
